Our newest Forever Home is now open in Cape Town! The Sikelela (which means Blessing in Xhosa) Forever Home joins our Unathi and Evangel Forever Homes, serving the children of the Cape Town region of South Africa. Often touted as one of the most beautiful places in the world, Cape Town is known for breathtaking beauty and world cuisine. However, in the midst of this beautiful setting, there is also much poverty and pain. In 2011, with a population of 3.7 million people, 10% of the households were found within informal settlements and nearly 36% of all households were below the poverty line. The region’s poorest communities are burdened by severe drug and alcohol abuse, affecting many children exposed to both en utero. Many of these children are orphaned or abandoned with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and/or developmental, cognitive, and emotional delays.
Passionate about serving the growing number of children orphaned in Cape Town, we are excited to open our third Forever Home in the Strand region of Cape Town. We look forward to providing a place for children to grow and thrive in the loving care of a family, as they have access to the best therapies and resources to be able to reach developmental milestones. Our team has already begun to welcome children to the Sikelela Forever Home, and we are grateful for the partnership of our Los Angeles friends to make this home a reality! Please join us in praying that the children who call this house their home will feel loved and cared for, from the moment they enter the door.
