There are 5 million orphans in South Africa.
950,000 of them are living alone.
Without parents. Without hope.
How do you explain to a young child why he or she was left alone to die?
The team at Acres of Love works to find the right words to reassure these children that they are now part of a Forever Family that will love and care for them, even though their biological parents are no longer part of their lives.
These answers are shown through actions more than they are spoken.
They are conversations that happen slowly over time, as we seek to be a consistent, permanent, and loving place of safety for these children to grow.
At Acres of Love, we strive to restore some of what has been lost to these children, providing them with as many years as possible with love, nurturing, and happiness. We believe that the value of life is not measured by length, but by quality. No matter the severity of their illness of trauma, we treat all children as our own and seek to fill their lives with consistent love and care.
“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by “I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.” -Mother Teresa
